We have had a couple patients transfered to OR and the AMR crew brought with them a CCU/ICU nurse, a medic, and an EMT. When we asked why they needed the RN they told us it was to manage the drips we had going. I have not seen this from transfers within WA state, is it being done?
We have had crews ask for one of us to help transfer a patient on a few cases and we have not because our boss does not want us off the unit and we would not be covered under the hospital's insurance if something went bad.
I thought it would be nice for our local AMR to have some ED/ICU nurses on call to help out when we get a bunch of trauma transports but they would have to pay a lot more than they are accustom to :)
I live in a smaller community (70k) but we are a level 3 trauma center on the I5 corridor and see a lot of traumas (approx 750/yr) which are usually shipped to Emanuel or OHSU, and rarely Harborview d/t proximity.
