Anybody interviewing for the Providence Scholarship this weekend?

Published

I've been accepted to UP for the spring 2018 cohort, and was wondering if anybody else is as nervous for the interview as I am!

Does anybody know how many scholarships are being awarded this year?

I'm excited to meet you guys Saturday!

Hi HtotheB!

I have been admitted to the 2018 Spring cohort as well at UP and have an interview on Saturday! Mine is at 11AM I haven't heard whether they will be group interviews or solo, really hoping for solo though as all the other nursing interviews I have been a part of have been group interviews and are so stressful.

As far as I have heard is that they usually give away about 15 total-10 to the four year students and 5 to the transfers, and there are about 80-something that apply and they interview around 30. So we've got a decent shot!

Have you applied anywhere else and if so have you been accepted? I just got my email from Mount Hood CC today that I've been accepted to the winter term cohort, and I just had my interview with OHSU last Thursday so won't be hearing back until mid May. This Prov-scholarship is really going to be the deciding factor I believe.

How did your interview go? I was quite impressed with the interviewees I saw, and the interviewers were so kind and relaxed.

Hi guys

Congrats on getting into UP and getting an I interview for prov scholars! I applied and was unfortunately waitlisted due to errors in my application. :( I was told I was placed priority on the waitlist, not quite sure exactly what that means though. I'd like to know an exact number but I guess priority sounds pretty good. Anyways, I was just wondering if you had and idea if everyone that was accepted is taking their spot or if there might be some opening up. I heard last year there were only 3 people taken from the waitlist. I'm just trying to know something, the wait is torture!

I'm not sure about that. Great job even making it on the waitlist, though! If I hear more about applicant pool statistics for our cohort, I'll let you know. Maybe we'll meet each other :)

Thanks HtotheB, i would really appreciate it:) I'm really hoping I get in. May I know what your gpa/experience is? Was this your first time applying?

It was my first time applying.

My overall GPA is 3.81, and my only experience was two months of caregiving in assisted living (not even CNA!) and literally one day of job-shadowing an ER nurse. I was surprised that they accepted me! I think they really liked my essay and the fact that I'm involved with a few clubs at school.

What is your experience like?

That's great! I have no experience except for shadowing the fire department emt, ER, L&D, and Med/Surg in high school. I'm working on my cna right now but that wasn't included in my application. My gpa is 3.85 overall and 4.0 for sciences.

Neat. It seems like you should have gotten in, then!

Anyway, I just got the email, and I did not get the Providence Scholarship. :( I am really hoping I can make UP work out. It's my dream school.

I'm sorry to hear that :( Have you been told the financial aid that you will be able to receive otherwise?

Thanks! I have a feeling I might have made it if I didn't have that error but for now I'm hoping I get off the waitlist.

I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get the scholarship. I also got the email this afternoon that I didn't get the scholarship. Super disappointed, but going to see how much financial aid covers otherwise. Did you get in anywhere else? Now I'm debating whether UP which is only 18 months vs Mt Hood CC to OHSU which would be 3 years í ½í¸©

Do yo know if there is a facebook group for the spring 2018 cohort? I might make one if there isn't.
