I will be moving to Michigan next spring and i was wondering how do i get my license transfered?? I also know how terrible the economy is up there and that it is tough to find a job. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if i would have a hard time finding a job in the Detroit/Metro area? I am willing to work in any facility

I just moved from Colorado to Michigan in August, and to transfer my certification I had to fill out and send in an "exemption from training" form, and then they sent something back saying that I was exempt from training, and then I sent that form in to the testing company, and now I'm waiting to hear back from them to schedule an exam. You do still have to take the test in Michigan, but while you're waiting you can work for something like four months before taking it, and you have a total of six months to take the test before your exemption expires.

The Michigan Department of Community Health has all the info about it :-)

I live in the Grand Rapids area, and there are less jobs here than Detroit, but everywhere is pretty horrible right now. The nice thing about Detroit is that there are several surrounding areas you go to if you had to like Yispsilanti, Warren, Royal Oak, etc. Nursing homes usually always accept apps for CNAs because of high turnover in many facilities.
Good luck hunting!
