Any Washington school nurse here to advise?

Published

Are there any school nurse's in Washington on here? If so, can you tell me what the job market is like in or around the Seattle area? I have my BSN, RN and multiple years as a school nurse under my belt in a different state. I'm also trying to figure out the ESA thing as well, it looks like there are different levels for school nurse's.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi abbyzabby, I'm a school nurse working in Seattle. Would be happy to chat with you!

As far as the ESA, you can apply to get an initial certificate and then once you've done the required ESA course (specific to school nursing, or more generalized for all ESA fields), you can apply for the continuing ESA. I think you have one year to get the course done.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to message me.

Also, you can join the Facebook group, School Nurses of Washington, and ask questions there.

Thank you so much Leslie. I was wondering what the school nurse job market is like? I've been checking around online and it's a lot different from where I'm currently at. Any tips, or school districts that I should check out? Also, would it be better to apply for the initial ESA now or should I wait until I'm employed in a school district in Washington?
