Hi!

I've been working as a Triage Nurse in an Urgent Care setting for a year and a half and just found this website, today! Since Triage Nursing doesn't really afford us much peer communication, this is a fantastic avenue to talk with one another!!!

I'd be happy to assist you in any way that I can :)

hi, i'm trying to find out how to get a job with the dod,do u know a website i can go to? i am a lvn. when i was in germany several years ago ,a nurse at the army hosp. was telling me about civillian nursing in the military. i do not know where to look. i thought maybe u could help me ?

Not sure if this will help or not, every base has it's own way of doing things, especially when a medical center is a Naval Hospital, Medical Air Unit, or Army Hospital. When i was at the Army hospital the triage room was for an adult outpatient clinic, and those providers only, which was mayby 16-25, depending on internists. So, it was a tiny room and there were no protocols in place, each nurse who pulled the triage "duty" for the day pretty much did the triage her own way. It was very informal.

At a telephone triage company in Seattle, there was much more structure and guidelines on nursing and treatment protocols. It also was huge in comparison; clients all over the U.S.

Sounds like you got yourself a really nice job. Are you with Civil Service, or an agency?

Best wishes

Hi, Well you've been there a year, how's it going? I just started at an Air Force base in N. Ca. It is very different from civilian hospital nursing. Any hints or advise on Triage nursing would be appreciated. We seem to be on our own alot and able to make independent decisions which I am not used to. Anyhow change is good and I'm looking forward to the challenge. THanks
