  1. I grew up agnostic by way of being adopted by an atheist father who told me he was an atheist because of his many experiences in East Berlin and the war ( before the wall came down). My parents did not talk about God or go to church at all. I can honestly say that agnostics and atheists will be very disturbed by any prayers over them when they are ill or listening while they are on their way out. Of course my experience and perspective has changed, as I am married to a Catholic man in the Catholic Church after receiving Catachism, and all the Sacraments. I am now also changed by my nursing experiences in hospice. My rule of thumb was to treat this situation as the patient would have wanted, expected or wished. It helps when the family is around and can give you a clue, but short of this, I agree that prayers are exceptionally beneficial, but "probably in silence".
  2. My friends sister is a nurse, she just got a job with McKesson, which is patient education done via company computer from home. Another name that might be worth researching is Cordova.
  3. I have been told this by a child psychiatrist as well, Stratterra has rare success stories. Based on it's neurotransmittor effects, it has a reputation for affecting sleep quality one way or another, which is why some parents give it at night and others give the Strattera in the am. I was also informed that one child on Strattera developed gastric symtpoms so badly that his parents brought him to the ED. Apparantly this medication is hard on the stomach, it should be taken with food, which last I checked, was not in the information packet that comes with it. I hope your doctor and you can work something out that would be better for your son. Concerta seems to be very effective for lots of ADD/ADHD children. It is a stimulant though, and as such requires thought as to if this is the right way to go for your child. I'm no expert, but see alot as I work in child and adult psych. I hope this helps. Stevie
  4. About 6 months ago I heard of jobs in this area of telecommunications through Humana. Apparantly they set you up with the technical equipment at your current home. You provide a room with a locked door as your 'office". I do not have any contacts there but it's probably worth researching. Best wishes...
  5. Not sure if this will help or not, every base has it's own way of doing things, especially when a medical center is a Naval Hospital, Medical Air Unit, or Army Hospital. When i was at the Army hospital the triage room was for an adult outpatient clinic, and those providers only, which was mayby 16-25, depending on internists. So, it was a tiny room and there were no protocols in place, each nurse who pulled the triage "duty" for the day pretty much did the triage her own way. It was very informal. At a telephone triage company in Seattle, there was much more structure and guidelines on nursing and treatment protocols. It also was huge in comparison; clients all over the U.S. Sounds like you got yourself a really nice job. Are you with Civil Service, or an agency? Best wishes
  6. :uhoh21: Apparantly the shipping process was just underway when British Health Officials suspended the Co. maunfacturing license in London, due to a contaminated batch of Fluvarin. It's sounds likely that the vaccine will be given to the very young, very old, and the immunocomprimised before everyone else. Did not hear anything about health care workers being a priority at this point. The U.S. has a manufacturer as well, so this may a temporary setback. ( Let's hope!)
