Any study tips for the NLN?

I'm scheduled to take the NLN in a month. Does anyone have study tips? Please help I am freaking out!!!

Hey- I am also taking the NLN test in a month. I bought the NLN- review book, if you go on the NLN website you can find the exact name of it. I bought it on amazon, wasn't too expensive. It reviews reading comprehension, vocab, math ( reviews basic math, algebra, geometry etc), also a sciences section including a&p, chemistry, physics, & general sciences. After each review section there are a few practice tests, which are actual questions from previous NLN tests. Then there are 3 comprehension practice exams. I find the book to be extremely helpful. Although I've found that the review in the sciences section to be a bit basic. I've done the practice tests over n over, my issue is that from repeating the same tests I'm remembering the answers to the questions lol so I am re-reading the review sections to make sure I understand and have a grasp on the actual concepts of the questions and not just answering from memory. My boyfriend has been helping and when I'm doing the practice tests I found that explaining why I chose an answer and why the others aren't correct has really been helping me make sure I understand and know the material.

I've read a lot of posts, and many people are saying that they find there to be a lot of physics on the NLN so I also bought the physics for dumbies book n have taken some notes on the general info and writing down equations.

Also if you do get the review guide, make sure to time your self as you take each test bc many people also have said that they have ran out of time. So it will help you to get a feel for what the actual test will be like. The book also come with a cd with the practice tests which is cool bc the actual test is on the computer and it gives you different options of what kind of questions n shows you were your strengths n weaknesses are to allow you to further study what you need to know.

When I had originally started with the math I was using a calculator to then find out we are not permitted to use them for the test. It's bazaar to me as to why they don't allow it, but if you continue to do as many practice problems as possible it will help get much quicker as you do the problems.

If there is anything else I can help with or any questions you have let me know!!!

Best of luck!!!

All of the pre-entrance exams will be the same for English, grammar, reading comprehension, and basic math. HESI & NLN PAX: Those two exams are very similar, or at least were back on 2009-2001. If you have probs w/ English, grammar, or pen and pencil math, I recommend that you go get a GED English of math review book and go through that.

The science portions of the TEAS/ HESI / PAX are what seem to vary. There's a McGRaw Hill nursing preentrance exam study guide book that was a good general purpose book for me. I tool HESI and PAX, and I used the HSEI ATI study guide, the McGraw-Hill book, and a GED Math Review book. I found a free download link for the MG-H book on this board. If you Google this site for it, the link might still be there.

If you search here for TEAS, PAX, HESI pre-entrance study help, most of the advice given for any one of those might be good for you, too.
