I'm in the nursing program at Napa College and I really like it so far. However, there's a two year waiting list to get in.

I just graduated from Mendocino's nursing program. Their program is still fairly new and SMALL. They take 18 every year plus 4 LVN to RN bridge students. This year there were 130 applicants for the 18 spots, however it is still worth a shot because it is now a lottery system. The directors are GREAT and have developed a great nursing program that is rated 17th in the state (out of over 150). If you have any other questions about Mendocino, feel free to send me a PM.

HI Vicky,
I was very impressed with the person I spoke to at Mendocino. She spent so much time talking with me. I do have a few questions:
She mentioned there are no scheduled classes or labs Fri, Sat or Sun. Did i understand her correctly?
What is the earliest you were required to be there? I have 3 kids and live in Petaluma. But, one of my kids goes to SCDS right there at the Windsor/SR border. They have morning care but want to know how early i would have to arrive. What is the latest you were there?
Thanks so much!
Yes, you heard right. No classes, labs, or clinicals on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! In fact, the first half of the first semester the program is Monday through Thursday, but after that it is only 3 days per week. Start time depended on what semester you were in, but I believe the first semester I never had to be there earlier than 9:00. I think the second semester some days started at 8:30. Of course on your clinical day you have to be there at 6:00 or 6:30 depending on where you are placed.
Figure it will take you about one hour and 20 minutes to get from Petaluma to Ukiah. I live in the East Bay and ended up renting a small place up there because the commute was killer (but that was 2+ hours for me).
Hope this helps!
Great! Thanks for the info! It sounds like a great program and perfect for me with kids! I guess whatever is meant to be will happen!
