Any recent grads/current accelerated BSN students at GMU?

You will NEVER have a day 'off'. You may have no classes scheduled on a given day...but you will NEVER have a day 'off'. You may make the choice to fuggedabout everything for ONE day as part of an overall survival plan that includes preserving your health and well-being...but you will NEVER have a day 'off'.

You are signing on for an 11-month, 1-week marathon that includes frequent intervals of 2- to 3-week long wind sprints. My classmates and I are currently weathering a storm of papers, posters, and presentations as we stride toward that finish line two weeks into the future.

They're revamping the program rather extensively, so the faculty are the best ones to provide you with information on your schedule for this fall, as well as the remainder of the year.

Thank you for your response! I know that we won't have a day "off" and that this is an extremely intensive program, I was just thinking how great it would be to have one unscheduled day to work from home or just to have several straight hours to work at school.

Hi. I wasn't coming down on your wondering about having a day off. It was my humorous attempt to warn you what it REALLY means if anyone tells you that you have a day 'off'.

A day 'off' = You :typing

With all the changes about to take place with this program, any info they've sent you is the most current and accurate. A lot of specifics are probably still being hammered out.

My only suggestion is that you enjoy as much R&R as possible for the next 5 weeks.

And now I'm back to a long day / long night of me :typing ...

I knew you were being funny I just wanted to make sure I didn't come across as if I thought it would be easy.

When you say major changes, what types of things are they changing? Do you think it's for the better?

Also, a more specific question, we are required to buy all white leather shoes "with no holes or ornamentation." I have a pair of black dansko's that I love but I am hesitant to drop the money for a pair of white ones unless it would really be worth it. Do most people just wear plain sneakers? Or does it depend on the clinical site you're at?

If possible, I would recommend the traditional program. I graduated from GMU in May 2009 from the traditional program and I had friends in the accelerated. From what they tell me, traditional students have a better knowledge of the material and clinical skills. 11 months is short timeframe to cram everything into your head.
