Any Psych Techs Around?

I am so sick of waiting for an LVN or RN program to open up in my area (they are impacted like crazy). I would love to one day be a psych nurse but with the wiating lists in CA I might be 80 before I get in. I know there are a few psych tech programs open at a few local schools and was considerng going that route. I was told psych techs are basically the same as LVN's here in in CA the only differiance is instead of studying med/surg in school they focus on psychology. There are even a few programs in my area that offer is Psych tech to RN bridge.

Are there any other california RN's that went this route?
