Any online, self-paced NP program?

Published

I am in my 1st year at pharmacy school. I am also working RN weekends options. I am jealous of the autonomy the NPs have as a mid-level practitioner at the hospital. Unless I obtain a position as a clinical pharmacist, the autonomy is limited compared to NPs. I also can't imagine myself working in walmart/CVS.

Can you recommend a good self-paced, part-time, online NP program that I can complete while I am in pharmacy school? My nursing experience is only 2 + 1/2 years. I don't know if it is enough for the admission?

I have an funny idea about opening a clinic as a NP with a little pharmacy store inside... I guess the law does not allow you to dispense and prescribe at the same time, does it?

Thank you in advance for the answers

Hi, I'm a consultant pharmacist working in long-term care. This may be worth looking into for you. It is a nice alternative to slaving away in a chain store. It allows you to use your clinical skills but avoiding hospital politics, etc, and you get to work your own schedule.

I have been a consultant pharmacist for over 20 yrs and I love it-did the retail and hospital thing and would never go back! Nurses and doctors respect your expertise, and you are indispensible to nursing home administrators when you guide them through pharmacy regulations, saving them money and aggravation from state surveyors.
