Hello. Just wondering if any of you know of any online programs for the RN-BSN program that does not make you take clinicals. Thanks!

NLN-approved programs must have a "clinical" component. But it's not what you think.
I've gotten my clinical hours in my RN to BSN program through Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences in several ways.
In Leadership we had to interview to nursing leaders and write a paper. "Clinical hours" given for having to interview them.
In Physical Assessment , (all NLN approved RN to BSN programs have this class) we got clinical hours for practicing assessment techniques on our own time (which I really didn't do much of), and doing an indepth head-to-toe (with opthalmascopes, reflexes, the whole nine yards) on a person with a witness, and finally shadowing an MD or ARNP for 8 hours.
In Community Health, we got clinical hours for teaching projects. We had to teach to populations something. I taught my male friends on prostate health/infomration and my coworkers on impaired nurses.
That's it.
Good luck in whatever you do.

Thanks so much Tweety. I already do community health, work with the medicaid population, just haven't done hands on for a while, so that is why I was asking, currently do case mgt. Work 5 days/9-5, so just concerned with getting paid...and how to do the clinical time. Will check out your college, thanks again and have a nice 4th!

I am about to graduate with my BSN from a RN to BSN online program at the University of South Alabama. It took me 3 semesters to finish this program and has been wonderful. My clinical component was one of my choosing, so it is a field I am interested in. Like the previous post, I had to complete a health assessment class which required a full head to toe assessment on my husband. I videotaped it and the instructor grades it based on each system and the required criteria. I also had to complete a teaching project which was a lot of fun. Overall this program has been easier than getting my RN. I think you will find many of the online RN to BSN programs are less stressful than ADN programs. Good luck! Amy;)
Good luck. You'll find most online programs geared towards the working person. Through most of it I worked 3 12's so found it easy to fit in extra stuff. It's a bit tough working 5 8's, but doable. I hope you find something that fits.
I love teaching projects, that is a good part of my work. My only concern was finding the time to do the clinicals, since the company I work for doesn't provide much PTO, so I would need the money, sigh. It wasn't stressfull for me to get my ASN, nor take the boards. I would rather take state boards anyday, then do all the busy work they had us do in school, but again, I did enjoy my local community college, and really wasn't stressed. Met some wonderful friends there & had some great teachers, also worked 30-40 hrs per week while in school.
Thanks for your school suggestion, I will check out.
Hi Tweety. I started taking classes (just 3 general classes) online for my BSN when I was working 3/12's in psych, then my Dad became ill with cancer, and well...it became too much for me, spoke with my advisor & stopped. Then, I found this great job which I love, however itis 5 days/8 hrs. It can be doable, as you said. I did speak to the school you go to, they are very nice, however, will have to call them again, because it has been a year or so since I wasn't sure when I felt like starting. Again, thanks Tweety.

Every year, more and more established and reputable schools are offering their RN-BSN programs in online versions. The number of options has grown dramatically in the last 2 or 3 years. If you do a little shopping around, I'm sure you can find one that fits your need.
Good luck,
