Hi
I am curretly in a CNA program and have just started the skills part of the course, I am wondering if there are any free online sites that demonstrate the skills correctly? I am in Oklahoma if that makes a difference. Thank you so much for your help :)

The only advice I can give you is to "keep talking." Talk as you demonstrate the skill, it allows the examiner to know that you are thinking about each and every step, and it puts aside all nervousness. Always Introduce yourselve, Acknowledge the patients name, let them know which skill you are performing, allow them some independence(ex:If changing their clothes, ask them what they would like to wear), rememember to open and close curtains, lower and raise side rails, raise the bed to a comfortable working level to avoid straining your back, and ensure the patient is correctly aligned before leaving them. Remeber to wash your hands and put on gloves before every task. Performing vital signs and feeding the patient does not require gloves.
I would tell you to go to youtube to look at some videos, but most of the videos are not correct.

I am not sure the guidelines in Oklahoma but here are two free sources I found demonstrating CNA skills:
4yourCNA - YouTube
Illinois Nurse Aide Testing - Performance Skills Videos
Remember to always that introducing yourself and placing a barrier down is important for skills demonstration. I made sure of this as in my state you are graded heavily upon contamination.

Hey Dreamchaser,
My school had a Red Cross DVD that had all the skills shown. It was great, but unfortunately we only got to see it once. I got to see it a couple times more after by staying after class, but sometimes the TV was occupied for other classes.
But good news, I found a dvd that I purchased on amazon.

I noticed the brand had a dvd just for CNA's. But I got the Nursing one (link above) since they had CNA skills on their "beginners nursing" Dvd.
This one was slightly different than the Red Cross, however it was sufficient enough for me to do great on the skills exam.
Rule of thumb for Red Cross takers, go by THEIR book.
