Anyone ever travel to Cedars-Sinai in L&D? Just trying to get a feel as to what it's like. Thanks for the input!

Hey!
Im currently finishing an assignment at cedars although not L&D. Im not sure exactly what is going on....but "apparently" over 20 nurses just quit L&D!! Im not sure what the circumstances are but can keep you updated. I know travelers who have worked there before and have enjoyed their time. Its a very busy unit from what I hear. If i hear anything more on the quitting situation Ill let you know.
Thanks! Appreciate it!

I worked here, but not in L&D...in the SICU/TICU...horrendous. Worst experience of my life. Substandard nursing care, crazy busy with a truly messed up system...half paper/half computer/minimal pyxis, meds spread out in 4-5 places; treat travelers horrible. Didn't get floor orientation because the supervisor said paperwork is priority. Which is how their culture is...as long as it looks good on paper. Typically, a traveler would get 2 transferring patients, then admit 2 sickies--with minimal help mind you. The majority of the nurses were rude, as was the secretary--she was a nightmare. I tried to end my contract, but my company kept pressuring me to stay. I wouldn't go back to that hell hole for any amount of money. Any. It is not swarming with celebrities as you might think, more like an entitled and unappreciative, upset patient population. Sorry, but you asked!! :) And, I wish someone would have warned me. I left there most evenings feeling like a beaten dog. However, I must say, some people do have a good experience, although it wasn't me. Nights seemed to be better than days. I did float a few times to the neuro ICU and people were really nice and helpful--normal there. There's way too many nice places to be in CA. I'd skip this one.

I am currently finishing up a contract at cedars as an ICU float as my contract says but I am more of a hospital float. It has been the worst experience in my nursing career and I feel like my nursing license is constantly on the line at that hospital. there is no sense of teamwork, you are all on your own, the nursing staff is rude and lazy and all that hospital cares about is how everything looks on paper. I feel so bad for the patients because the quality of patient care is terrible. For example I was told that they only document that they turn their patients in the icu and that they don't actually turn them. I can not wait for this assignment to be done and it has completely turned me off to healthcare in CA and I will not be returning. I have heard from other travelers that L&D is just as horrific.
