Thank you so much. I will continue to do so. At this facility it is 8 minute increments. I agree with you. Even if I don't get OT pay, I should get straight pay. By her changing my time card, it also works against extra time accrued, which would benefit if I had to call in sick or for ER situations....It's so disappointing. Thanks for the reply.

Hello! I've been working in Baltimore for 5 weeks now. One shift I clocked out at 0741 and my nurse manager changed the time on my time sheet to 0731 so no OT would ensue. She did this because apparently this hospital pays their nurses more, so they are not entitled to their OT. I am not staff nurse and clock in and out so I am confused how this applies to me? Why clock in and out if I am not getting paid for it? Still I am not granted my time. My recruiter has been working with the hospital but still no answers. Does anyone have any insight or previous experiences with this issue? Thanks.

Im sorry your having trouble with this travel company. I would be nervous too. My recruiter and I start looking for assignments 4-5 weeks before the current one ends. I usually ask for an extension around 5 weeks, then start looking if they say no, just so i land the job i want versus taking anything because i have to..... I have 6 more weeks left at my current assignment and have the next one set up already. I am also signed up with 3 agencies just in case my current one cant find something. I hope this helps and Good Luck job hunting! Seems to be alot out there right now.

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering how the ratios would be... Do you work both days and nights? I have a phone interview tomorrow for M/S position. Currently in Boston but trying to get closer to family for the holidays. Im happy to hear you like it. I've read alot of positive things about the hospital. When I have floated in other hospitals I would float anywhere but Ped's, ER, and ICU-what are your experiences? Im happy to hear about electronic charting, currently hand writing my nursing notes Also happy to hear the staff are helpful as Ive had some NOT so travel friendly experiences..:) Thanks again for the reply!

  8. DONT QUIT!!! I have been a nurse for 6 years and I remember what its like to feel that way. I questioned everything too when I got home!!! Those worries will lessen over time especially once you get your routine down. We can only learn from our mistakes and NOT ONE NURSE IS PERFECT! I remember waking up in the middle of the night looking at my alarm clock, 2:00a.m. and yelling out loud HIS CHEMO SHOULD NOT BE GOING AT THAT RATE!!! :) The first year is the most challenging. Take one day at a time. It will get better! Your "ocd" will make you into a great nurse!! Its always comforting for me, being a patient too, when my nurse is focusing on EVERYTHING, and not just one part. :) Hang in there!! PM me anytime!

Hello everyone! Has anyone ever taken the housing stipend and lived with a friend/relative? Im considering a job in WI about 80 miles from where my permanent residence is and was thinking about taking the housing stipend and staying with friends and then going home on the days I dont work. My main question is how will I be taxed at the end of the year? Should you "pay rent" to the relative/friend you are living with? Can i still take the meals/incidentals? Ive researched the irs website and its clear as mud What are your experiences? Thanks!
  10. Hey! Im currently finishing an assignment at cedars although not L&D. Im not sure exactly what is going on....but "apparently" over 20 nurses just quit L&D!! Im not sure what the circumstances are but can keep you updated. I know travelers who have worked there before and have enjoyed their time. Its a very busy unit from what I hear. If i hear anything more on the quitting situation Ill let you know.
