Looking seriously at moving out to be closer to family to BC(Chilliwack-Fraser Valley area) but im having a hell of a time getting a good grasp on what the job market is.
Causal positions are listed, but beyond that I know nothing.
Registered Nurse(BNRN) in Newfoundland, 2 years in long term care, 3 years as a full time float(primarily on a medical unit).
Any input would be great!

If you search Fraser Healths career website, you'll get an idea of the jobs. Likely you'd be hired as a casual and then have access to internal postings. Lots of external er/ critical care positions
I get that I'd have access to the positions once accepted but was curious about how many hours I'd expect as casual. Is the market for nurses just oversaturated?

If you look at Abbotsford, (30min from Chilliwack) the hospital there is very very short of nurses, tons of overtime, even for casual and regular full time staff. You will have no problem getting in there if you have prior hospital experience. It's a great hospital to work in as people are nice, teamwork is great and the hospital is fairly new (no 4 patient beds). P.s. they need lots of er nurses, as I think more than 10% of their posting for er nurses is not filled. They will accept you even if you don't have prior er experience, since they are desperate and are taking in new grads.
Chilliwack hospital is very small and positions can be hard to catch. Good place to work too but most nurses in Chilliwack work in Abbotsford (Abby hospital is 3x bigger in size than Chillwack)
overall you will realize BC is just very short f RNs in general. Postings don't reflect that. Lots of internal postings vs external.
