Any nurse living in Olympia, Washington?

Published

I was thinking about moving to Olympia, WA. How is life over there? What do you like the most about living there? Will I have a hard time finding a job? Please tell me some pros and cons.

Thanks!

I worked in Tacoma, WA as a travel nurse. I'm back in PA now, but I loved WA. Olympia was not far from us, and we visited the area a few times too. There is a hospital there, but cant tell you if they are hiring or not. Most hospitals in WA when I left were doing away with agency/travel nurses but hiring more staff.

If you post this question on the travel nurse board, you may find some people who have actually worked there semi-recently.

i can't speak to the ease (or lack thereof) of finding a job in olympia, but i love the area! washington state -- especially western washington -- is beautiful. there are a lot of outdoor activities available, the culture is decidedly different from what i'm suffering through in the mid-atlantic and i like the climate. a lot of folks don't like the climate: pearl gray skies and light drizzle nine months of the year and an average temperature of 45-75 all year round. but it was perfect for me. i can't wait to launch the teenager so i can move back to the pacific northwest. (or move aboard our sailboat and circumnavigate as the economy allows.)
