Any NP schools in FL with good medical science foundation?

For those of you with experience of have matriculated to any of these schools, can anybody remark on any that have great instructors, good science-based course work, and a supportive and educationally enriching rotations?

I'm finishing up my BSN now and have been heavily considering PA school for a long time, but it is highly competitive and I was an average (B) student through my ADN eductation so that put a little hurt on my GPA (and I'm not sure if CASPA calculates nursing courses or not). My A.A.-transfer GPA and sGPA were good though, mostly As with a handful of Bs/Cs from everything from Calculus to Organic Chem.

I've been critical of NP education in the past and currently, that's why I have an affinity toward a PA program (as I find their coursework more to my taste), but I would like to keep my options open and if there is any solid NP schools that any of you in FL would recommend I would be much appreciated.

For example: Vanderbilt's curriculum looks pretty promising, but again, not in FL: http://www.nursing.vanderbilt.edu/msn/acnp_plan.html

I am mostly interested in in whatever specialty covers the most ground (FNP? is what seems to be the trend - correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks!

Dude, as long as you have a 3.0, go for it. I made almost all B's in nursing school and I'm going to PA school after getting some HCE in critical care. I had good science GPA as well. Caspa does count nursing course, but you can it either as science or non-science based on it's content. Most of the time they won't question you when it comes to you deciding on nursing courses.

if you want a good science education then PA (or CRNA) is the way to go. Unfortunately, it requires a base knowledge so nursing prereqs don't usually qualify. Usually have to go back and take at least more chem courses.

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm just gonna finish up my BSN strong; since it's mostly been papers I've been able to pull A's all the way through, hopefully get my undergrad GPA to something competitive and rack up the hours for experience working. Maybe take biochem if they reallllllly want it. Looking into NOVA and Keiser in South Florida at them moment and sent them a couple emails.

University of Florida ranks #44 in the US for top nursing schools. I know several UF MSN grads and they all have great things to say.
