Any non-resident UCLA students? UCI? CSUSM?

Published

I went to UCI for undergrad but have since moved out to the east coast. I'm planning on making a move back to California for family reasons.

I see my options as the following:

Finish pre-reqs here, apply to CA nursing school, pay out of state tuition

Move back to California, try to finish pre-reqs there (although I've heard even getting into pre-req classes is a challenge), possibly establish state residency, apply to CA nursing school

Finish pre-reqs here, apply to nursing school here, finish nursing school, attempt to find job in California

The school options I see are CSUSM, UCI and UCLA. My goal is to live in the San Diego area and CSUSM and possibly UCI fit into that (I used to commute to Irvine way back when, it's not pretty but doable). I'd move to the LA area if I went to UCLA. My husband only wants to move once if we move to California but I think I can talk him into it.

So I'm wondering if these state schools even accept out of state students into their nursing programs? Or is there any bias towards CA students?

I also feel for you CA students, you definitely have more pre-reqs than schools in the DC area. I'd have to take OChem at least and possibly other classes to even apply.
