Any National University students/alumni

Published

I was curious if there are any current National University students, or alumni, that can give me recent insight into the school. I will be transferring to San Diego next year and was looking to apply to their Bachelor's of Science program. I will be enrolling with all of my science classes, and most prerequisites, completed at another university. Some of the reviews that I have read on allnurses.com and other websites have not been so great. However, there are some pretty good ones out there as well. Most of the reviews seem to be dated. Any input would be great, as I am not from that area, so I don't know much about the schools. (SDSU would be out of the options because I didn't make a B- in A&P II. I made a C+...and any community college is out of the picture, as well, because I will be 34 with two kids, and just don't have the time to wait to get my degree at this point.)

I used to teach there in the computer sciences field. I left because of differences of ethics between myself and the admin. I would ask for details about their drop out rate, make sure to see actual numbers in writing, and check their NCLEX pass rate (published online). What is the total cost?

I checked into their NCLEX pass rate and it has improved. The cost of education would be covered by the GI Bill, but there was a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. I've read that employers in that area don't like to hire NU graduates. Have you heard of this before? Being that my husband is active duty, I don't foresee us staying there after I graduate the program. I do want to make sure that I will get my money's worth in education. I've read some commenters refer to the school as a "diploma mill", which scares me!

Yeah that's kinda the impression I got but it was a completely different field and our students were vocational rehabilitation.

Are they nationally accredited for nursing? What degree would you be getting?

They are nationally accredited through CCNE. I contacted CCNE directly to verify. I would be obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

Hey Lady,

How is it going at NU for you?. I start talking my GE classes 2016 I am also going for my BSN.

I have two prerequisite courses that I take in February and March, online. Then, I can apply for the nursing program in April. When do you apply to the BSN program?
