Looking to see if there are any RNs in the National Guard on this forum? I'm a prior service active duty Army enlisted, considering maybe commissioning in the guard as an O-1 as an RN.
I was wondering what you do during your drills and two week drill each year? Are you training, actually working, both? Do they take your nursing specialty into consideration? For example, I'm going to be starting as a new grad in the ED, would I have the ability to work in the ED with the guard, or could they put me on any unit in a hospital?
What are the odds of being deployed and how far in advance do they normally give you? What are the deployment areas for NG RNs right now?
Thanks again!

I’d like to hear the answer to this as well.
