Hi there,
Brand new nursing student here. I begin Foundations next week, so I'm looking for any advice, encouragement or tips.
We had our orientation yesterday and it was sooooo negative-sounding. The coordinators basically told us that we would have no life outside of nursing school, we may not make it, and that if we didn't take certain classes beforehand, it was suicide.
Geez.
Nice to feel so welcome.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi Lisa!
I'm going to Mott CC and I am in my last semester...207/208/209. Don't let those instructors bring you down. They said the exact same thing to us. Make sure you build up some strong relationships with your fellow classmates, which will happen whether you like it or not, your with them so much! My husband was very supportive, however, that took time also! Please, please feel free to PM me and I can help you with whatever more questions you may have........
Thanks for the encouragement...I sent you a PM, too. :)
I'm very lucky that I have a super-supportive hubby and I work at Genesys, so I'm able to bounce ideas and questions off some docs/residents and nurses that I work with. It's great.
Thanks again!

I am also in my last semester at MCC. It is a shame, but there are a lot of instructors who try to bring you down. There are also a few that feel it is there job to fail students. Don't let them bring you down! You can do it! Thankfully there are more young instructors at MCC, and I think that is the answer, get rid of the old relics, they are making a bad name for the MCC nursing program.
I'm sure the more younger instructors, the better the program. I know at the hospital where I work, the older, more set-in-their-ways nurses make it difficult for others, too.
Well, since my last post, I have completed the first year in the program! I am currently in what used to be known as 205. Any pointers?
