Any leads on hospitals hiring new grads?

Nurses Career Support

Published

I'm going to graduate next month and sit for the NCLEX boards soon after. Unfortunately, I live in the Cincinnati area and there are 28 ####ing nursing schools in the area pumping out more and more nurses into an area that just isn't hiring. For the love of God, I do NOT want to do home care or nursing homes. So, does anyone have any leads on hospitals hiring new grads anywhere? I'll relocate anywhere and work any department at this point.

I live in a suburb south of Dayton, about 45 min. North of Cinci. Have you tried Miami Valley Hospital? It's a large, magnet teaching hospital in Dayton. I graduated in 2008 and took my first job there. I believe it is BSN preferred but they still had a lot of ADN's as well. I worked on a pulmonary unit with ICU appropriate beds. They hired several new grads. at that time. We had about an 8 week orientation. I worked with a great group of people, but the unit was not for me. I work at an in patient hospice facility now. Good Luck.

The hospital that I did majority of my clinicals has a lot of openings.. Smaller town life, but really it's good to just get your experience and then be able to do whatever you want, and this includes relocating. http://www.provena.org Provena USMC is hospital I am talking about.

All I can tell you is they changed their process and now has a "boot camp" for new grads/new nurses to their facility.. The next one is May 9th... They have one orientation start date per month (2nd Monday) and they get back to you in a decent amount of time :) Good Luck! Danville, IL isn't that great of place to live.. but the hospital is great to their staff and teaching is pretty good
