I would skip the LPN route and go for an RN program. Here in Spokane, Washington, Sacred Heart Medical Hospital laid off ALL OF ITS LPNS ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. The other hosptals also cut back thier LPN slots, or are replacing them with RN slots. About the only places that are hring LPNs are nursing homes assisted living facilities, and doctors offices. All with low pay and benefits. Also, Spokane is a very low paying area. There are not alot of high paying jobs in Spokane. Seattle has better job offering, but it is a very high cost of living area, comparable to California.
If you are just starting out in the medical field, I would got for a BSN program right from the start. JMHO.
