are there any hospitals or at least LTC's that hire AS RN's??? the hospital that i just got hired in here in jersey does not pay that much, but i'm just thankful to actually get the job so i took it! but i would also like to make extra by working in nyc as well. I actually plan to start applying after my 6 months or 1 year experience. I know most hospitals there want BSN's with experience, but do you think at least the LTC's in NYC area (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn) will hire associate RN's??? I have a bunch of friends and my mom's friends that work in some hospitals and LTC's so I kind of hope that will help also.

Yes, many hospitals hire ASN RN new grads but with new grad BSNs why should they. Especially if that BSN applicant has experience. Not trying to rain on your parade, I'm a ASN RN. I work in a hospital with tons of older nurses who only have there ASN some are not even thinking of going back to school for BSNs. But, at that time it was way different if you were an RN it really didn't matter whether you had a ADN or BSN.
As far as LTC, the same holds true unfortunately. Gain a solid one to two years experience and get your BSN you become more marketable.
