Any good sites for kidney physiology?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any good sites (or suggestions) that might help with kidney function. I have a test in A&P on Friday and this is proving to be a difficult subject for me.

Our instructor has given us a drawing outlining the basic steps, but the copy is dark, hard to read, and I think that he may have dumbed it down just a little too much (he's been teaching this class a looong time!). I need the most help with what happens where: proximal convoluted tubule, henle's loop, etc. If anyone can point me in the direction of some last-minute help, I'd really appreciate it! Our book differs from his drawing, so a third opinion would be nice!

Then again, if his drawing is wrong, does that mean that I should learn it wrong for the test and relearn it after? Does a tree falling in empty woods make any sound?

Thanks in advance!

Is there any way you can get a hold of A.D.A.M's interactive cd? That program goes through it all step by step, what happens where and why it happens and so on. Your school may have it in the library or computer lab in the science building. That's your best bet. I never really found many websites that were helpful for this. Most went way to far and into weird chemistry stuff that wasn't expected of us. I do have a few, but ADAM's the best :)

The site below is helpful because it had a diagram which shows what's going where and explains why.

The site below seems kinda dumbed down but it's helpful because it shows what happens and why it happens with detailed diagrams and which hormones act on which processes.

Good luck to you and keep me posted :)

Hi cinqly,

Here are a couple of websites that I have posted on my own website. These have some great tutorials on the urinary system. Hope this helps!

I have the ADAM so I will definately look at that!!! The sites look like they will be very helpful, as well. I don't have much time to study (the test is tomorrow), but every little bit helps. Besides, I will bookmark the sites in case I need them in nursing school!!

Thank you both!
