Hi,
I am currently taking required courses for the nursing program at CCP.
I am wondering if there are curent or grad students of the program here.
If yes,
could you please tell what your impressions are of the program. Is a disorganised program as a previous old post in this forum suggets? Is it a good program?
How easy is it to get it. I am currently on a 4.0 GPA. What criterias do they look at?
do look at hospital exoerience? I don't have any.
Do there grads have a high rate of passing the boards? and getting good jobs?
The guy who took us A&P 1 didn't link the material with medical sitiuations. Would that affect my performance during the practicals. an example of this is the section of the endocrine system. he didn't teach us things like the effects of hypo and hypersecretion and how to reverse the effects. The A&P manual I used from another CC contained all these.
Thanks

ccp nursing program is the best in the city. they have a passing rate of 98% with is excellent. you have to make sure you attend one of the first information session. this is where you apply. since you have a great gpa that shouldn't pose a problem. get letters of recommendation giving credit to your character and all should be fine? I will you the best.

Hi Tutulu,
I am a current CCP Nursing Student. I will be going into my 2nd year this fall. Just to let you know.....I didn't have any hopsital experience either....that does not make a difference b/c they teach you what you need to know....
The pre-req courses(i.e. A/P I, A/P II, microbiology etc) are giving you a foundation to build on once you begin the program.
As for your clinical experience, you will learn assessment skills at the beginning of you first semester. The instructors are going to make sure that you have an good understanding of doing assessments before you go out to your first clinical experience.
So take a deep breath and relax...you will be fine.....
Regarding your questions about the criteria I would suggest that you speak with a counselor at the school. I do know that the passing rate went down the last few years. However the program is continuing to strive to increase that passing rate. But make a note that the passing rate people are talking about is for individuals taking the NCLEX for the FIRST TIME and passing it....I am not sure there is any info on individuals who take the NCLEX a second time and pass it... The grads from 2008 are starting to take the NCLEX and from what I have heard they are doing well so far.
I know that a lot of the grads had jobs before they even graduated from the program in May.
Sorry if I was long winded....I hope this helps....
Take care and good luck:-)
