Hi I'm starting the LVN program at Concorde Career College this coming October (I am SUPER EXITED!)
AND I was wondering if there was any other lvn Concorde nursing students in here?!
When is your start date?
I passed the test :) Today I went in for financial aid. I have to make an appt. for an nurse interview. Did you do the same? How was it? I'll see you for the full time VN program , If everything works out.
The way it went for me was first the initial interview, then the testing, (congrats on passing by the way), then the financial aid appointment, went home and took care of fafsa and other items financial aid needed, then a second financial aid appointment with all necessary info, next applied for private loans for the funding I still needed ( a lot ), last was the final interview with the director of admissions.
I am now looking forward to the orientation and first day of school.
I'm very confused on the whole financial aid and how to apply for a loan. As of right now my parents told me they dont want to do the federal parent loan. I filled out the fafsa and this Thursday I need to go back for financial aid. So Im not sure where to take out a loan that would allow me to pay after I graduate. If you have some insight please let me know. Thanks

I am married so I didn't go through my parents for anything. When you go back to financial aid they will tell you how much in grants your fafsa qualified you for. In my case I did not get any grants at all.
I did the stafford loans through the school. They are low interest federal loans. They do not need to be paid back until after graduation. When you go to the financial aid appointment they will explain them to you. If your parents are the ones getting the loans and they do not want to use them you will need to go a different route.
The federal loans only covered so much of my tuition so I was still left with a pretty sizable balance to cover with private student loans. I chose to go through Wells Fargo. They have a student loan program. The loans are deferred until six months after graduation. If you do not have credit or are not employed you will need a cosigner. I am a stay at home mom (tough job, but no pay lol) so I had my husband cosign the loan for me.
I believe Sally Mae also has loans that can be deferred until after graduation. I would do research online to see if you can find some different programs and choose the one you are most comfortable with.
Thanks for your feed back. I appreciate it :) When I went to my first appt. with financial aid she gave me an estimate and it did have those two lender options of wells fargo and sally mae. The only thing that caught my attention is that the well fargos said you would have to do payments starting nov 10 and the sally loan depended on how good your credit was. When I go back tomorrow im going to let them know that my parents dont want to sign for the federal parent plus loan and what other options do I have . I just hope that I can get a loan that can be paid after I graduate. Also, If my parents do decline that federal parent loan that will decrease my financial aid and the federal stanford student loan.
Hello!I'm starting the LVn program at Concorde in GG in Oct. I'm nervous. I have heard of the goods and bads, but everyone is different, an opinion is an opinion. I guess I will have to find out =).
How has your experience been at Concorde in Garden Grove?? I'm asking because I'm getting ready to enroll there and I wanted to hear people's thoughts on it.
Thanks.
