Any Community College/TRCC Students to help?

Published

Hi everyone! I just registered with allnurses.com, I am an aspiring nursing student who is currently working on my general education classes in hopes to take the pre-entrance exam next year....

After doing some lurking around the board, I was wondering if there is anyone attending Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO or any other community college. It seems a lot of the members are involved in programs with a lot of pre-reqs and classes that I myself are not required to take(at least I hope!).

As I'm sure all of you know that this nursing school thing can be a very scary place, just wanted to touch base with some people going through the same motions...Thanks!

Hi

I'm starting the nursing program this fall at TRCC, I'm very excited. If you plan to take the pre-enterance exam at TRCC get the study guide at the NLN website, it realy helped me.

I have taken all my general ed classes at TRCC. In fact the only classes I have left are 2 ALHE and of course the NURS classes, which you cannot take unless you are except into the nursing program. If you haven't taken A&P yet, Mrs. Wilson is the best A&P instructor at TRCC.

oh some more advice.....depending on if your indistrict or out of district. If in district shoot for the day program they take more indistrict, 24 in and 6 out. If your indistrict and want the evening program that starts every spring, they take 15 in and 15 out.

Again the best advice I can give you is go to the NLN website (the pre-entrance test is from the NLN) and get their study guide and study, study, study.

GOOd Luck,

Arleen

Thanks Arlene! I was hoping to come across someone from TRCC on here!! Congrats on getting into the program...

I have A&P with Mrs. Wilson in the fall, that makes me feel more at ease knowing you liked her. I'm only in my second semester, but like you I'm working on getting as many gen ed classes out of the way. I can't tell you how nervous I am about the entrance exam next year. I have the study guide already, which prompted me to take a fundamentals in math class last semester. I'm still totally freaked out by it....

Good luck in the fall, coming up quick, you must be super excited! Can't wait to see how it goes.... -Kelly

I am currently attending Cuyahoga Community college in Ohio. I am still working on my general classes, I just started this past spring semester, I have completed 4 classes and am currently taking 2 classes this summer. I will be starting A&P I, Psych II and finally my last math in the fall. Then for spring Micro, A&P II, and the last riduculous Eng.II class. I heard it was better to get the gen courses out of the way before starting the nursing classes. I am so impatient, wanted to start in the spring but grades may not be posted in time, and now the counselors say I have to take the NET test after my last math class is posted. I want to start already!! Its a two-year program after you start the nursing classes, I feel like I cant wait that long!! Are these pretty much the same classes that are reqd at all schools? Or is it program specific?? And is it a good thing that I am waiting to be done with the gen. classes before starting the nursing ones. I hope so, I do have a hubby and 3 kids. so maybe it will be easier?? thanks!

I'm not at your cc but I am a student at a cc. Here (in Nevada) the prereqs for the ADN program at the cc are virtually the same as the prereqs for the BSN program at UNLV and UNR. All the gen ed and prereqs for the UNLV and UNR NS are lower divison classes, the nursing classes are the only upper division courses.

i am also at a community college. they have a dual admission deal with area universities and colleges where i earn my AS in science then transfer as a junior right into the nursing classes just for the clinicals. but i have to have a 3.0 gpa in general and also a 3.0 gpa in my sciences.. so i understand your pain. this fall i have A&P II, developmental pysch. and diet 111. if i am lucky i will transfer just in time for the beginning of the fall night classes (which is two years straight no break).
