Sorry Nurse Recruiters/Nurse Managers!
I am in this same situation now, the feeling is similiar to trying to get that first credit card-you need credit to get a credit card:you need experience to get that job! It is so frustrating, I have applied to an endless amount of positions and made several follow-up phone calls....and nothing! What is a new nurse supposed to do?!?!

New OB Nurses, Grads and Students, Please Feel Free to post your questions here:
OK I probably should not answer this as I havent even reached the RN level yet. But I can speak from experience. After I had my second son while still in the hospital I received the depo provera shot. I had a c-section and was there for 4 days, I received the shot on the 3rd day. And I was breast feeding. I would hope that especially with a c-section if there was a risk of clotting they would not have given me the shot. Maybe if the patient is in good health and had no complications on previous labor and postpartum recovery it is just a call the DR. makes. I dont exactly know, but thats what happened to me and thought Id share it. Like I said I am not yet an RN, still in school.

what is the correct job title?
Hi everyone! I am in my second semester of pre-reqs and have searched this sight before for information but maybe some of you know the answer to my question.......I want to work in the postpartum care of women after labor and delivery. I had a really good experience with an overally kind and caring nurse after I had an ER C-section years ago, and I knew that was what I wanted to do. But technically what field is that? And do I have to get a special degree?? Is this a field that I could go directly into after graduation or would I have to work other places in the hospital before I can move up into that department. I guess I just dont know how to get there and what its called. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated THANKS!!

It is Recommended that I take "Intro to BIO" before required science pre-req's?....
At my school the class is 1100-Intro to Biological, General and Organic Chemistry and is required to even take any of the needed sciences. I think it gives you a good base to build from it refreshes any info you may have learned before and many future teachers touch in things they know are taught in that class so it may be good to have some background. if you are confident maybe just take a 5 week course or other shortened lenght just to refresh your memory. Good luck.

Questions about nursing school ???
Hi! I am also new to the nursing school thing! I decided one day it was long enough and just jumped into school. I am 29 and have 3 kids so it was an unusually big jump for me to make. But heres the deal I am working on.....attending comm. college took an assessment test and found out I had forgotten alot of math, so had to take 2 extra math classes just to get up to the right level for the nursing, am still working on pre-reqs, but as soon as I finish my last math class I can take the entrance test for the RN program(all the while working on all the psychs and sciences) I will be done this spring with all non-nursing courses then with my passing grade on the test I can enter the program in the Fall 09 and will be taking only the nursing classes. Well that is of course if the program doesnt have a waiting list, which if you can believe right now there isnt one!! So you are absolutely on the right track with everything. Better get busy, it takes awhile, I am getting so impatient just want to be there already!! Good luck!!

To Rn or BSN?? That is the question.
I am currently working on my pre-reqs for the ASN degree, i am always wondering if i should pursue the BSN instead. But have heard that there is no real difference in pay and the duties as far as nursing are the same. I am 29 and plan on doing bedside for many years to come, should I just stick with the associates degree for now? I dont really know what to do.I am going to a comm. college and would have to transfer to a university or other local college for the BSN. I guess I am just looking for a little advice on this decision. Thanks!

A&P grade?
Ok all of you just scared the pants off me. I take A&P I in the fall, I hope I do as well as all of you. I took A&P as a college course in High School, but since it was over 7 yrs ago my counselor says I have to retake it, but thats a good thing, I dont really remember alot of the info off the top of my head, hoping it will come back to me during class :) In a class of A&P I students do most get A's? or is it one of those classes with the average around C's??

Any Community College/TRCC Students to help?
I am currently attending Cuyahoga Community college in Ohio. I am still working on my general classes, I just started this past spring semester, I have completed 4 classes and am currently taking 2 classes this summer. I will be starting A&P I, Psych II and finally my last math in the fall. Then for spring Micro, A&P II, and the last riduculous Eng.II class. I heard it was better to get the gen courses out of the way before starting the nursing classes. I am so impatient, wanted to start in the spring but grades may not be posted in time, and now the counselors say I have to take the NET test after my last math class is posted. I want to start already!! Its a two-year program after you start the nursing classes, I feel like I cant wait that long!! Are these pretty much the same classes that are reqd at all schools? Or is it program specific?? And is it a good thing that I am waiting to be done with the gen. classes before starting the nursing ones. I hope so, I do have a hubby and 3 kids. so maybe it will be easier?? thanks!
