Any Columbia Neonatal NP's/students out there?

Hey,

I am considering starting my NNP at Columbia next fall, and was wondering if anyone on this forum could shed some light on the curriculum, clinicals, classes, etc. I will probably be commuting from NJ to NYC for a while, and I will have 2.5 years of Level III NICU experience by then. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!:uhoh3:

hi,

i just started the nnp program at columbia this summer and i love it so far. i begin my clinicals this coming fall. i live in northern nj and commute to columbia, which isn't bad at all. it only takes about 45 mins. i wish i can give you more information, but def. visit the school and sit in on some classes. you'll find that the classes are both interesting and challenging.

Do you really only need 1 year of level III NICU experience to start? I am leaving my NICU here in SC to give the ED a try, and if I find it's not for me, I'm applying to Columbia's NNP program next year. How competeitive is it to get in? I would imagine it is, since it is such a highly specialized program, and ony one of a few in the metropolitan area. My family lives in Monmouth county NJ, so I'll probably commute too....Thanks God for NJTransit!
