Any CNA or PCT train in NYC @ Mahattan Institute - Good School?

Published

I am interested i knowing if anybody lives in NYC and has attended the Manhattan Institute? Is it a good school? I am scheduled to begin CNA training in 2 weeks and then will go on to study PCT (Nursing tech). My classes are on Saturday and Sunday for 7 weeks (CNA) and then another 7 weeks for PCT. Did you find the teachers helpful? Is the class difficult? How long did it take you to finish both classes? Were you able to find a job quickly? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated about this school.

I was also thinking about going to this school for their PCT course, but since I haven't started it yet I can't really offer any advice. You can try posting in the New York forum under the Regions tab and also here's a link to a previous discussion about MI. Good luck with your class!

i know im a few months late, but i went to the manhattan instute. teachers were pretty good. i didnt CNA class and the PCT class back to back, was done in 7 weeks. then i did my 1 week at the nursing home.

I recently graduated from the manhattan institute and had the same experience as TBb15. The teachers and the entire staff were great.

I'm going to agree with everyone else. Staff and teachers were great. But I would recommend not signing up to take the exam through the school because I had to wait 3 months for a test date. When i finally got one it was rescheduled 3 times. Took my State exam on the 12/30/08 and pass.

(Btw I finished the class in august)

I had the same problem but it isnt fair to blame the school. The exam and the lady who gives the test is sent from NY State. It really has nothing to do with the school. If it takes a long time or is cancelled, it has nothing to do with the school. In fact, the school recieves no money or compensation of any kind, they do it as a favor to the students. I confirmed this with the school and the state. As I was very frustrated with the situation.

I would ecommend that you take the state exam in the school where you take the course. You will feel more comfortable with the surroundings.

When you do finally take the test, the state is fast at giving you your results.

Hi I registered for The Manhattan Institute and was wondering what to expect for the CNA Program. I plan on going further for the PCT as well but unsure if I will take it there. Are any of you currently working in the field? How is it? Over all how was the school? Ans most important, how long am I looking to wait to take the liscence exam after I complete the full time day coorifice? All and any feed back is appreciated. Heard of the Mildred Elley School for Lpn I'm very interested and researching a lot...

I had completed my CNA from manhattan institute in october and then tooked state board exam in january at CNA exam center (nursing home in manhattan), as it was fastest way. you have to wait for long time if you planning to take state board exam at school. The teacher was good but i dont like the facility at all... I was thinking to take PCT from there but it doesn't sound good to me.. I mean, they won't send you for an internship and they told me like its not neccessary or mandatory to take national exam. who the hell will hire if you are not certified?? so, i went to school in flushing.. i did my intership n passed my state board exam. now i am a certified PCT....

you should try the school that i went for PCT. its in flushing( the new york medical traning center)...the teachers and staff are nice. you should try there, its much cheaper and better than manhattan instiute...all the bst!!!!!!

Thanks for the response. I figured trying in my own to get an exam date would be best. I don't know if this is feasible but can I have the school set up an exam and myself as well and take the one that comes first? Also I did call the one in Queens, if thats the one in Elmhurst. I chose Manhattan due to the class timing and I had read some not so good reviews. Now my next question since now I'm seeking PCT school for when I'm done, unlike Mahattan Inst, do they accept financial aid of any sort? How long was the program and how long did you wait to take the exam, if you took one? Thanks for feed back. Also are you going to go further? I wanted LPN. Heard of Mildred Elley school? Was it hard to find a job after completion of CNA or PCT?

I went to Flushing(New York medical training center) for PCT in Febuary and completed the course in March. then took the national exam in april and got my certificate in first week of june. in between, i finish my Phlebotomy and Ekg internship at doctor office. the internship is 120 hours (60 Phlebotomy n 60 ekg). I had already apply for job at couple of agencies for PCT position either in hospital or in nursing home. I know, its hard to get hire in hospital unless you have an year or experience but trying my best to get hire. I am planning to do LPN at Laguardia community college in queens as they have bridge program for RN...

I actually attended LaGuardia CC about 11 yrs ago for the RN program and was accepted however never completed. I was also interested in that as the shortened their program to 12 months. I have about 26 credits and was hoping I didnt have to take the entrance exam again or if I can justt apply straight to the program. Or would I have to take my pre-reqs over. I'm going to call. Have you applied yet?
