I am not Chinese, but the requirements to be a nurse have nothing to do with race. Nursing school involves spending long hours studying (lots of material) in a short amount of time. If you have good study skills and enough time to study then you will do fine. There are no biggest problems, they are all equal 'problems.' Pre-reqs usually take about 1.5 years, but you may have some if you have taken Anatomy and Physiology and other related science courses. I am against on-line courses, so I am going to discourage it, but if that's your only option then go for it. Just make sure they are from an accredited school and the hours will transfer.

Hi all,
I am from China currently in San Diego, been allnurses for a while, really love this forum! I am going for the pre-reqs next semester, hopeful can finish all the prerequisite in a year...here is my situation: i had a associate degree in china which was major in science education, I learned all the basic science including anatomy biology psychology and algebra etc., but I didn't study anything relate to nursing, according to my major I actually suppose to be a science teacher in the school, but I don't really love it, about half year ago I found my passion actually was nursing! So I transferred my transcript from china and now those papers were under evaluating, so here is my questions:
1. Any of you guys also Chinese and studying nursing here? My biggest worry is HOW HARD it is? What would be the biggest problem? I guess that would be language?
2. How long need to finish prerequisite? As I understand nursing colleges normally not recommend to take any lab courses online, such as anatomy physiology etc, but how about other fix set courses such as English and microbiology? Can I take those courses online? Coz I really don't have so much time too attend college with each course, I actually have a baby boy who's only 10 months old, I need to take care of him in the day while my husband in the office.
3. How tense the nursing program would like? Especially for a foreign student? Any of you whose mother language is not english could give me some idea?
Any reply or private messages would all be highly appreciated! Pls help thanks!
