Any Certified Medical Assistants that went in for Nursing?

Any CMAs that went in for LPN program having a student debit already? [emoji30] well I just want to know if it's doable I'm still in debit for my CMA and really want to get my LPN than my RN. Anyone? I thought about paying off my student loan first but then I thought about another wasted year of not even being close to my dreams of becoming an RN. I'm also getting old lol turn 26 this year and been having the vision of becoming a nurse since I was 20. I think it's about to to just go for it. I also suffered from a fibroid this year and want to try to conceive asap. I can wait till early next year to try for a baby but I really feel that this is it for me. I don't want to risk regrowth so I'm really trying to get this whole nursing out the way. I wouldn't mind having a baby before I start my RN:)

It sounds like you have a lot going on. I am currently a CMA but I do not have any student loans. I paid as I went. I am currently back in school for RN and my husband and I again are not doing loans. I would recommend personally if you want to be an RN do not waste your time with LPN. I am 30 years old and I had a decision to make. Go back to school or have a baby. I chose to go back to school. I am waiting until I am done this before I have a child. I would not recommend having a child while trying to go to school. Too many things can happen. You have to decide what is more important to you having a baby or school. Or maybe you can do both.

Yes and no. I guess I make it harder on myself then what I should be:( well that's what I'm told from loved ones lol. But right now it is my student loan, I went to a technical college for my CMA so it wasn't cheap and the LPN I want to go to isn't cheap either. Where I plan to go for my nursing is only a bridge program for RN so I have to become an LPN. I've also read around for jobs that some employers require you to have your LPN and RN.

How long wil it take to pay off loans if you would pay it off first? I dont think it"ll be wrong to attend school while planning to have a baby. Alot of parents i've come across that are in school for whatever they major in seem more motivated and stay in school. There has been many times i have wanted to just stop because it became difficult ( core courses? ) and I still have those feelings of giving up toward my education sometimes. I want to someday be able to have a stable future for myself so i continue school no matter even if im getting up there.

Not long but I do owe a big lump some. And yes I don't think my motivation would stop maybe even want it more . Thanks

I feel your pain. I didn't go to a technical school for my CMA, but I do have some debt to pay off as well. I also want to start trying for a baby December 2017. I don't want to wait until I'm 30 (23 now), could be from working in a Fertility clinic thats got me all freaked out. Im starting the LPN program at Galen in January. Its an accelerated program, so ill be done in 12 months. I plan to do a LPN to RN bridge the following year. Its expensive, but i need to get this done. Ill hopefully get hired into a health care system that pays for their employees to go back to school. I was working for a health care system as a CMA that paid $1,500-$3,000 a semester. So thats the plan as of now. I'd say go for it and start paying your debt off after you get your LPN.

Yes just turned 26 and little freaked out but than I see so many girls my age or older without children and calms me down lol. Ppl my age are either married or out clubbing still so I don't feel that bad. But I will start trying for a baby late this year and whatever happens happens. I also will be planing on starting LPN this winter feel like I'm too old for school now but whatever at least I will get it done. I'm also very confused on what I want to do cuz I don't see myself being a nurse for years and years I want to eventually invest in businesses whole sailing real estate etc. but feel like in order to do that it would be a lot easier to have a good paying job with credit and able to get loans etc. but time will tell. Hope all works out for u I'm very stressed about the whole baby thing and getting my life together. My husband makes good decent money so that's why I'm not as worried about not Bing stable for a baby cuz I am but I would like something going for myself.

Do you think you could get a job at the hospital as a clinical assistant? You would be getting great hospital experience (something you won't get as a clinic CMA) and pay off some of your loan. Additionally, there are many hospitals that do tuition reimbursement for nursing school. I was an MA for 12 years (no debt though). Im now 32 years old and and in my senior year of BSN. I also have two kids (14 year old and 7 year old). I also work PRN as a clinical assistant at a large hospital. It's doable.
