Any advice for a new grad?

Hey everyone

The graduation day is looming! AND I CAN'T WAIT!! December 17th is pinning. I'm only an ADN but have full intentions of continuing my education. However, I have been putting out applications since October, and it's rejection after rejection after rejection. If it's not a rejection it's "we're not currently hiring new grads"

I'm terrified I'm not going to find a job and I can't be a bartender forever. I don't make that much money and I really was planning on having a job lined up for January or February. I'm not giving up, I'm too stubborn, but doesn anyone have any tips? I've applied in Illinois, Wisconsin and New Mexico. I'm not picky at this point! I swear I'm not stupid, I just feel like I need a chance. Do I just resort to groveling??? :)

Thanks Everyone!!!

Sorry to break it to you but you're experiencing what many of us are... the jobs for new grads are few and far between... and the competition for them is FIERCE.

Supposedly, new grads are being hired in significant numbers in Texas but I don't see people posting specifics.

My one piece of advice: Look to the little rural hospitals that struggle with recruiting due to location and generally lower pay and then try cold calling. It ultimately worked for me after about six months of hunting.

Be ready to lower your expectations and be happy if you find anything in acute care at all.

There are jobs out there but there hundreds of folks out there fighting for each of them.
