So I'm applying to a bunch of schools, but Adelphi is my top choice. Just wondering if there are any current Adelphi students that transferred into the upper nursing program (junior/senior year) and can talk about the program. Is it hard to get in as a transfer? They said that they accept applications through the summer, but I'm going to try and get it in by march the latest. I'm also taking the TEAS at Adelphi this Sunday.
So yeah, anyone either currently at Adelphi or applying to transfer into the BSN (not the second degree), I'd love your thoughts!

I am currently an Adelphi student and entered as an upper level transfer. If you have good grades and a good TEAS its very easy to get. They wont look at you if you have below a C+ in any science.
It's a good program but tough. Be prepared to work. Do you have any specific questions?

Thanks! As far as grades, well, I did have 2-3 sciences below a C a couple years ago, but I recently retook them and got all As...I hope that's okay? I didn't do well in college for a couple years (pretty low GPA), then went back and got all As (except one class) in around 60 credits, so hopefully that means something. Taking the TEAS on Sunday at Adelphi, not worried.
I actually talked to one of the nurses I work with last night, and she said that her daughter went to Molloy instead of Adelphi because Adelphi is very strict? Do you think so? Another nurse I work with went there and said it was good, but expensive.
What about classes like Patho, Nursing Informatics, and Physiological Chem? Is it possible to take those over the summer and start the actual upper level classes in the Fall? I see that for the PATH program they take Gen Chem I and II in place of Physiological Chem, so I'm wondering if I could replace that as well since I also took Chem I and II.
How long did it take you to find out your decision?
Thanks again, and sorry for all the questions!

I transferred into the upper nursing program at Adelphi. I took Physiological Chem, Informatics and Genetics at Adelphi in the Spring 2013 semster, and I started the actual program in September. General Chem I and II can replace Physiological Chem, and Informatics and Patho can be taken over the summer. I took Patho a Nassau Community College with the other sciences to save money. You probably could start the program in the Fall, but you would have limited choices for clinical, because everyone registers for clinical in June. The program is tough, but it's good. I worked harder last semester than ever before. I haven't heard of Adelphi being stricter than Molloy.
Thanks! Ok great, so if I'm accepted to Adelphi, I'll do Informatics and Patho over the summer. I'm at NCC now, taking A&P II, and they don't have Patho over the summer, so I guess it'll either be at Adelphi or a CUNY.
I took the TEAS today at Adelphi, I think it went well, we'll see in 7-10 days (argh!).
Just got my TEAS scores, 90%, 99th percentile!
You should be fine with scores and grades like you mention. Adelphi is hard and strict but its a good program. Gen Chem I &II replace the phys Chem that they require. Take as many of the pre-reqs over the summer to save time and money.
I found out within 6 weeks of applying that I had been accepted.
Good luck

So it seems as if the only pre-reqs left to take are informatics and patho, so I'd take those in the summer. Is Genetics required? If so, I think I can take that at Nassau in the Summer, though I'm not sure about the timing if I'd take the Adelphi-specific classes as well, so we'll see once I hopefully get accepted. Also, do you know if they would take my 4 credit Nutrition class from Nassau, or do I also have to take the Adelphi nursing nutrition?
I'm glad to hear that it's hard but a good program, which is exactly what I want (sounds crazy right?). I actually got into a...discussion with a coworker recently about how I should apply to Beth Israel and go there if accepted because it's easier than Adelphi, how they're starting an RN-BSN program, cheaper than Adelphi, I already know the computer system from working there, etc etc. But the curriculum at Adelphi looks great, BSN in the same time frame as the BI ADN, rotations at great hospitals (St Francis, LIJ, Winthrop, etc, even Beth Israel, right?), great resources, part of a College of Nursing with other programs, proximity to home, and presumably an easier time getting a job due to the BSN.
The only thing I'm a little worried about is the NCLEX pass rate, which seems low. Do you or others have thoughts on that? Also, do any students work during the program?
Anyway, thanks again for all your help!
Adelphi takes the 4 credit Nutrition class from Nassau, and Genetics is required. It's a 2 credit class at Adelphi, but they do accept the 4 credit Nassau Genetics class. The only problem you might have is that once are accepted to the nursing program, and start taking classes at Adelphi (like Informatics and Patho) I don't think they allow you to take any more classes at Nassau and transfer them. Some people work part time during the program.
