Any Accelerated BSN at IUPUI Fall applicants?

I keep reading the IvyTech thread so I can live vicariously through them and their letters! Is there anyone here that applied to the Accelerated IUPUI BSN program for the fall?

Just waiting...

jlynn, etc.,

I called the nursing department the other day and found out that only students in the program are eligible to apply for the long list of scholarships that can be found on their website.

Just thought I would share that with anyone else who might be wondering. :)

I keep coming across messages about $15,000-$20,000 scholarships from Clarian and Community, but I cannot find anything like that on their websites. All I can see ranges from $500-$2,500 for student nurses. Community website says that your relatives should be employed by the hospital for you to be eligible to apply for bigger scholarships. If anyone has more information about $15,000-$20,000 scholarships from Clarian and/or Community Hospital, please, share. Thank you.

The Clarian and Community scholarships are offered once you begin the program. During your orientation they will come and give a presentation about their organizations and present the scholarship to the class then. After that you can apply. I believe Community was 15 or 20 and Clarian was 12 or 15...I can't remember. I think the agreement is for two years of service after you graduate, given that they have a job opening for you. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I am taking my science prerequisites now and will be getting my ABSN either through IUPUI or Marian University. I wonder if the hospital representatives work with IUPUI only or they also visit other schools.

Those Clarian and Community scholarships are exclusively for IUPUI Accelerated Students. They came and talked to us on our first day of orientation and gave us the application details. Clarian offered 25 (which is good considering there were 40 in our class) and Community offered 3. It's not on their websites and you almost have to wait until you get in the program and go to orientation to hear about it. Oh, and they are both for $15,000. Clarian has a 2 year commitment for employment after you graduate and Community has a 3 year commitment. Hope this helps!

This helps a lot. Thanks for the great information!

I was accepted last week for the Summer start Accelerated BSN at IUPUI. Very excited and anxious to start. Can any of you that are already in recommend anything that I can start reading/studying now? Due to the requirements for graduation and science classes, I am sitting out this semester and going crazy until the May 7 orientation.

Hi everyone.. I am applying July 15 for the Spring 2010 Accelerated BSN... I will have a 3.4 cumulative and 3.7-3.75 pre-req GPA. I emailed an advisor there who said to be competitive you need around a 3.8. Have any of you been accepted or know of anyone who has been with a 3.7?? I am so nervous and feel as though I have a 50/50 chance!! Any advice/information would be so helpful!! :)

Not sure about Spring, but for Summer 10 gpa was 3.82. They made changes to the program starting with Fall 10 admit where courses had to be done earlier. Not sure the impact this will have on gpa requirements.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for the very insightful posts, navigating the world of the ABSN program at IUPUI can be very unnerving, as there tend to be a lot of unknowns but at least we have trends we can go by (ie required GPA of at least 3.8).

I am applying in January for the May/Summer start 2010 (and taking Anatomy and Micro this fall) and just have a couple of questions:

1) Once in the program, what is the criteria by which the Clarian and Community scholarships are awarded?

2) I am reading that there are a lot of us in the same boat as far as going back to school after graduating (6 years for me) and making significant sacrifices with family and finances - any advice for escaping the associated jitters?

Thanks, Maggie

Hi! I am a current MSW student graduating in May 2011. I have met with the admission at iupui for the absn program to start in the fall. I have a current gpa of 3.6 in my pre reqs. I have to take micro and sociology and if i get A's in both of those then my admission GPA will be a 3.65. I am just wondering if I should even waste my time applying or if I should just apply to another program? If anyone has any advice let me know. I had a friend tell me they accepted down to a 3.6 one semester. I am just worried my 3.6 wont cut it. Any words of advice from past or present IUPUI ABSN students?

can't hurt to apply, can it? I think it is free, right? I am applying in the spring for iupuis absn and ivytechs asn...and I will go where ever accepts me! Question...ivy tech requires the TEAS test...does iupui require any tests or just the prereqs?
