Hey guys just thought this might be relevant here:)
Just wondering how would i plan my nursing care for a patient who is a inpatient in a mental health unit due to wanting to commit suicide via hanging and is diagnosed with severe depression. He is also relatively anxious.
How would i go about my nursing care in relation to his anxiety as thats what i want to focus on:)

Remember...ABC plus safety. While I see that anxiety is something that needs help, maintaining safety is the absolute priority. "Potential for self harm....."
That being said, I bet the unit has self-rating scales for anxiety as well as depression that you could give the patient. You can also monitor objective and subjective symptoms by interacting with and observing the patient. Then if you see signs of anxiety, what will you do about it? And how will you evaluate whether what you or others did made a difference?
