Anxiety disorder and nursing?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello everyone I am a pre nursing student and I think I might have GAD (general anxiety disorder). I am wondering are there any nurses who have this or a similar condition? How did you find out you had it? Can you work? How do yu cope? Does the medicine you recieve help you do your job? Are there any side effects of the medicine u recieve? I am not positive I have this condition but I will see my help professional very soon.

There are many many nurses on medication to help them overcome anxiety disorders and depression. This also means that there are many many people from all walks of life that suffer from mental health disorders such as this. If you need some help, get on some medication and concentrate on your studies, not your (maybe) illness. As long as you are taking the correct medication for you then the side effects would be minimal and I sincerely doubt they would affect your performance at study or work. The meds are designed to chill you out so you can concentrate again and organise your thoughts. Just get as much info as you can but be awary of internet bulletin boards as you tend to get many negative people on those that try to influence others into not accepting treatment which may well help them.

Do what you are doing now, seek advice but seek out your own knowledge and don't listen to loonies and quacks.

Good Luck :) :)
