(I work in mother-baby, but I float to antepartum occasionally.)
I feel it would be a great area as a new grad, and yes, esp. if you want to work with women and babies. The babies you will work with there won't be born yet ? - however, you will become an expert in fetal monitoring. If you want to work in L&D someday, you will have that fetal monitoring experience under your belt. And if you want to work in L&D or mother-baby, you will get to see the baby on the other side while doing a lot of educating for both birthing parent and baby.
So yes, antepartum will be a great experience as a new grad and a good step in your career on your way to other desired goals. I wish you the best as you finish up school and start your career!

Hello everyone!
I'll be graduating in May & I recently interviewed for an antepartum position due to wanting to work in women's health/babies. Does anyone know if this would be a good area to start in as a new grad nurse? Thank you!
