ANP to FNP

Specialties NP

I have been an adult NP for 9 years. I have been working in diabetes for past 3 years. As I pursue other job opportunities many listings are for FNP despite not having a lot of peds patients

I have been thinking of getting my FNP certification. I have ANCC certification and have reached out to them. They state I would have to meet with a program and they can review what I have taken so far and what I would need.

I have contacted 3 University programs in the Chicago area - including my program I graduated from and nobody seems to think I can do this without completing the entire FNP program

has anyone else pursued this avenue? Please advise.

Look for post masters bridge programs into FNP. I know of several who have done this at Frontier, but mostly after finishing one of their MSN programs. I would assume they take students who got their masters at other institutions, but you will have to check.

There are many schools that offer post-MSN certificates (PMC)for FNP. Specifically, the University of Missouri-Kansas City will give a PMC for FNP though I think it's online. Look online, I'm sure there are other schools that will do it.

I too have been an Adult NP for 9 yrs and just completed a Post Masters FNP through UMASS Boston online. It will only require you to take 3 classes plus 300 clinical hours (220 Peds and 80 in OB) I will be sitting for the ANCC FNP boards on June 18th!!

I am a ACNP in the Master's degree then did a post master's certification as FNP. Both through Texas Tech and cert through ANCC
