Another Tragedy

I'm not posting this to ignite a gun debate but to call on you, since we are all related by way of our many and varied relationships with students, to offer prayers and positive thoughts for Santa Fe High School parents and students...another shooting; 8 have been confirmed dead so far. Dear God!!

Dear God indeed. And sounds like the injured are being transported to Galveston.

I treated a teacher this AM - Santa Fe is the teacher's hometown and the teacher has friends there who teach.

Sad

I don't even think I have any words. I'm just shaking my head.

My school is sending admins for ALICE training, but this makes the emergency triage training I attended in April feel even more real again.

Ugh...it keeps getting worse. Looks like the death toll is at 10 and explosive devices have been found on and off campus. Dear God!

Good grief! What is wrong with people?

So sad! It's happening so close to home too. Prayers to family and victims.

Did I see somewhere that it started with a fire alarm again? Now we're going to have to decide what's worse...the threat of fire or the threat of gun fire? This world is so broken. SMH.

This is awful!!! SO SAD!

Simply from my myopic point of view about the bullying initiatives...it seems there is a lot of time and energy spent on relatively minor incidences of simple meanness when, in many cases, serious bullying goes unreported or unnoticed. I think the subject goes way deeper, emotionally, than everyone realizes.

I think some kid looking at another crosseyed is considered bullying by some parents. And that where some of the disconnect comes. The term "bullying" has lost its shock value and has become a part of our everyday language. And it is no big deal anymore and we cannot see the woods for the trees, and then out of the trees comes a kid with a gun after he pulls the fire alarm.

Then we are left wringing our hands hands wondering how this could possibly have of happened?
