Oct 12, 201114 yr A COT is only necessary when the RUG category is different. Whether or not you complete a COT, you must still assess for another COT after 7 more days. RAI Manual pg 2-41

Anyone who has not read that document is probably in for a number of surprises regarding MDS. Please read it if you have not.

Would a COT be required if the RUGs were different (i.e RMA vs. RUC)?This sounds like 2 questions so...1) No COT required..same RUG.2) Yes COT required, an increase in RUG, likewise, a decreased RUG would also require a COT assessment. Of note, the ADL score has no berring on the COT decision.
