Just some questions about old horses. Our facility still hand counts--and signs narcs q. shift, with two nurses signing off. This is SOOO time consuming!!!!! Any other old horses out there? Oh, and we hand chart everything---every shift---for all nurses notes. No computer charting here. Our computers came over on the Mayflower.
The hospital where I work just recently, in the past 2 months, got thee Pyxis Med. System!!! Until then we were hand counting narcs. We still hand chart everything though. I think handcharting is better anyway, just my opinion. :) :) :)
The SICU I work in has everything computerized (meditech and emar)...even the supplies are in an Omnicell................................but we are still having to count narcs! Go figure! :chuckle
They're still doing it old school where I am on contract right now. Count q shift and anytime someone leaves must count, ie, someone coming in extra 4 or 8 hrs to help out. Really miss pyxis. Fumbling with keys and opening the double doors so annoying.
