Amount of personale in deliveries

I work at a teaching hospital with ob and med residents. We do about 2800 deliveries a year. Lately the amount of staff with the student Drs has been excessive. Does any of your hospitals have a guideline on the amount of people on delivery room in the OR and for lady partsl? Thank you in advance.

The nurse in you has a duty to the patient before anything else. Tell the laboring mother when you admit her that since it’s a teaching hospital you have a lot of students wanting to observe births but that she has every right to say no to outside observers of any kind for her birth if she doesn’t want observers. Document her preferences in her nursing plan of care, tell everybody at report, and post them where any other enquiring eyes will see them. Good for you for asking.
