American University Of Health Sciences in Long Beach?

U.S.A. California

Hey..How many here have applied for American University Of Health Sciences? I just submitted all my transcripts and teas scores.. But I'm still a little anxious going to a private school for BSN program. What I like about it is it doesn't have a waiting list and the nclex is pretty amazing..so I can start in winter and get it done in 2 and a half years.

Anybody has experience with this school? Please let me know if you know anything about it..

Thanks and godspeed!!!

I am currently a BSN student at AUHS in my first year of the program. I found this school through a friend who is also a current student and did a follow up research on AUHS using the BRN website as well as the school website itself (AUHS.edu). So far I don't have any complaints. The staff is resourceful, knowledgeable, approachable, very supportive and believe in an open door policy. The school has a small facility, that is growing, so we become one big family. We have recently been CCNE accredited and are now applying for the WASC accreditation.

PROS: General education classes are offered here, no wait list. Teachers are for the most part AMAZING. They are very knowledgeable and have nothing BUT good intentions. There's a low student to teacher ratio and I never felt like I was a number to a teacher.

CONS: School is going to be expensive, but I see it as an investment. You get what you paid for. However, there are options for loans and school definitely costs less if you take Gen. Ed classes at a community college (I took Chemistry, Math and Microbiology at AUHS). I also applied for loans, which helps a lot.

Although the school is a for-profit institution, tuition essentially goes back to the students as well as the community to better one another. We do community service throughout southern California as part of our growing experience.

Hope this helps :)

i am currently attending auhs, i am very happy with it so far. the registration process takes a bit of time but it shows they just don't let anyone walk in and attend the school. i also liked when i signed up everything was clearly told to me, all costs were given and no surprises. they let you know ahead of time it won't be easy and it takes dedication to excel in the school. it is way worth it to pay the extra money to attend a private school: there are smaller classes, more one on one time with the instructors and you finish with a bsn in just 3 years with no worries of a waiting list. it's a family environment here, they want you to succeed and help out in every way can. i highly recommend this school especially if you're tired of waiting to get into a program like i was.

From experience, I have learned the most at AUHS compared to traditional college and my professors are and have been brilliant. They are experienced nurses and dieticians and pharmacists who care about your progress and care that you pass the NCLEX, which is reflective from our NCLEX scores. The small class sizes make AUHS personal, not only in regards to student-professor relationships, but also student-student relationships and student-staff relationships. If you ever need help with ANYTHING, someone is always there to point you in the right direction. Yes, tuition is high, but education is an investment, so it's really just how valuable your education is to you.

I'm a first year nursing student with AUHS. It's not a easy program but I have to say it's worth the money. My friend who applied to a community college for her AA in nursing complain about her profs. all day because their class is bigger and less time for questions. I think for nursing wise, private schools thats accredited is the way to go.
