I am a BSN student at this school. It is a really new program still trying to figure itself out. Tuition is about $80K for the whole program, which is 2.5 years long. They are only approved by the BRN of CA which means we will be able to sit for the NCLEX near graduation. AUHS only has ACICS accreditation as a school (as opposed to WASC, which is a more reputable regional accreditation), which is basically a vocational school accreditation. This means we are very limited in which schools we can transfer to. For example, if you want to pursue your MSN, you would have to apply to private schools who will take this ACICS accreditation. Azuza Pacific University is one of them I know for sure of. Public univ like UCLA or CalStates will most likely not transfer our courses. AUHS is also trying to get the CCNE accreditation and we have even met the CCNE committee and they have visited our school several times. We will get a response by April 2009.
My advice to you, is only come here as a last resort. The school is ghetto-looking, and we definitely do not get what we pay for when compared to a traditional college/university.
Thanks for all the information. 80K is a lot for 2 years of school. I really wanted to be able to transfer credits to get a masters degree later on. That is good news that they are seeking WASC.
This school wasn't my 1st choice, but I was going to apply. I'll have to re-think about it.
Thanks so much for your honest input.
Actually, although they showed interest in applying for the WASC accedtn, we were told it was not a priority of the school and they are not planning to pursue it any time soon...

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!! i am currently a nursing student here and its not worth spending all your money. The administration are never considerate about their students. Each unit is $542.19 and each quarter you'll be taking about 15 units for 10 quarters. With the high amount of tuition you would think that they have good loan options, but they dont. The only company we utilize is sallie mae. We are not affiliated with any other loan companies like most other schools are. They don't have CCNE accreditation so basically our credits wont transfer. So if we ever decided to go for a masters program more than likely we wont get accepted. On top of all the tuition that we pay, we have to pay for other stuff like ATI. ATI is a supplemental tool that will supposedly help us with our NCLEX exams, but i dont feel it works. My class paid around $500 for it but i believe now they are charging about $1000. I would rather much spend my money on a kaplan review. Another thing about this school i dont like is that they change their rules all the time. They newly just implemented a policy that we must pass our exit exam with a 90% or we cannot graduate. 90% is a little extreme. There is a high turn over rate of faculty and staff which obviously means that their must be something wrong with administration. Also, a lot of good instructors have left because they are also fed up with the school. Although we may have good instructors now, they dont compare to the good ones that we had before. So after saying all this...let me see it again...DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!

AUHS costs about $120,000 without CCNE. It is too expensive. So $120,000 include pre? I heard they will get the result of CCNE in April, will they. In your opinion, Which school would you decide to get into AUHS or West coast University? Because they cost the same, but West coast is about $133,000. I also heard hospitals would hire students from West Coast University, but I don't hear anything about AUHS. People say this school is good, some are not good. There are too much comments. I am really so confused about these private institution school. Do we get any benefits after graduating one of these school? Any idea?

Yes, for as much as you pay for this school. It is SLUMMY. The lounge is decent, but once you pass those doors it's horrendous.
I cannot believe how much the tuition is for something so old and not updated with equipment and classes. I am not at all impressed.

I am currently a BSN student at AUHS, the school might seem shady just because the outside of the building is brown. However the people who work there are extremly warm and friendly. The school is fairly new that's why things happen sometimes, but I have no doubt that they will get their CCNE, and so far all the students who have graduated almost got jobs right away because of the school placement department.
One good thing about the school is all the faculties and staffs are accessible, the school is small so students get enough attention.
Good luck with you school searching

i have been doing a lot of research on the american university of health sciences, and it all looks amazing. i cannot tell you how exciting and promising this is looking. so my question is what's next. i know i need my high school transcripts. and i have begun trying to find a hospital to volunteer for. it looks like it may be to late to take some fall courses, but i'm shooting for an 8 week sociology course. what else can i do? i'm going to be a nurse, any advice or help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
I attended California State University Long Beach.
I heard about the AUHS BSN through Board of Registered Nursing. Even though some comments online says that they were disappointing when they inquired about the program, I was well informed about the cost and the BSN program. I was actually given an estimated tuition fee based on the pre-requisites I took at CSULB. My suggestion is that those who are interested in nursing should volunteer at a hospital so you can develop your relationship and networks. That's the best part of the school, they always encourage us to volunteer and they have many clinical sites. I would recommend AUHS to you, simply because the school care about their students they want you to achieve, and want you to do your best.
