Hi All!!!
I'm a new grad 5/2010...I've had my eye on a New Grad Residency since December 2009 and I finally got an interview this Monday...
Although I work for the company...this residency position is really hot because of the job shortage for new grads in my area...I was so aggressive with the recruiters....I called weekly...sometimes twice to make sure they wouldn't forget me...and it paid off...I was the first internal employee to get an interview...
So the inteview went great!! The unit's manager even asked me to come back to meet with the staff and charge nurse I may potentially be working with...now.... the unit manager said she was going to have a recruiter call me back to set up a 2nd interview with the staff...but I haven't received a call yet....it's been 4 days!!
I emailed the manager thanking her for the interview the day following the interview(Tuesday) and left her a voicemail on Thursday....So my fiance says I'm becoming a stalker ...am I really???
I want this position sooooo bad....it's 6 months of orientation before I'm on the floor on my own...that's unheard of!! So my question to you all is....should I really stop calling....or should I call in a week if I haven't received a call...I don't want to seem to pushy and annoy them to the point they won't want me as an employee....What should I do??
Thanks All!!!!!!
The repeated calls definitely become an annoyance -- and a person can make a bad impression if they annoy the key people in the decision-making process. No one wants to hire someone who is going to annoy them for then next 5 years!
So ... strike a balance. Show you are interested by contacting them approximately once per week. Show that you are a reasonable person to work with by respecting their need to do work other than fulfill your fantasies ... and give them the time/space they need to fill their position in their own time and way.

There does come a point, however, where the repeated calls can become an annoyance.
