I live in Twin Falls, Idaho I've been looking for job opportunities and there isn't much to come by. I was wondering if that is because of the college (so many new RN's every semester). There doesn't seem to be RN jobs in the surrounding areas either, what is it like where you live? Are you experiencing the same dilemma?

I'm in Sacramento, CA and the market for new grads is tough right now. We have about 7 nursing programs within 45 minutes of the Sacramento area. Almost all of the hospitals are hiring but they want experienced nurses. I think there are areas of the country with severe shortages still who are happily hiring new grads. If you're able to leave your area you may have better luck. My mom is sick so I can't leave Sacramento, but my backup plan is to finish my BSN if I am unable to find a job.
Good luck!

I live in Boise. I don't graduate until December, but I've been looking into working in more rural areas. Locally, the hospitals are on a hiring freeze, but if you aren't picky, you will defiantly be able to find a job.
Also, I would recommend not waiting until you graduate to apply. Even if jobs descriptions specify experienced nurses, apply anyway. If they don't get enough experienced applicants, most places will consider new grads. Don't forget about county or prison nursing - it may not be your ideal, but it's a foot in the door of experience.
