I love being a nurse. I have been in nursing since 1992. I started in med/surg as a GN and was in charge of the unit a few times before taking my NCLEX test 4 months after being hired. I transferred to ICU/CCU after 7 months and found a new love for nursing. After 2 years there I moved to ICU/neuro/critical care transport. A new love was formed. 4 years of that made me restless again and nothing panned out in my area so I traveled for a year. 6 months in a level I trauma unit then a short stay in CCU and back to the same critical care transport team for a year and a half. Now I am working in geriatrics and this is as interesting as the other areas I have worked in.

Nursing offers so many opportunities, that is why I entered it in the first place and it has not let me down.

Well sweetie you might be a freak, but it wouldn't be because you love being a nurse. :chuckle Just a little yoke :rotfl:. Anyway, what I really want to say is that, I am thankful every time I hear someone say they love being a nurse. I believe that it is the only reason to be a nurse. Nurses who don't love what they do shouldn't be doing it. I do not mean in any way that diminishes a person. I wouldn't love being an accountant so I shouldn't be one, but I am glad there are people that do love being and accountant. I dislike the fact that there are young people going into Nursing Schools because they see either good money in it, ha! or they think they will have some power in their job, or because of any other reason. When you love what you do, you have accepted the positive and negative together and learned to shine with or without them because it comes naturally out of your love for what you are doing. Sorta like being a mother. I thank the heavens for you and hope there are millions like you. After 30 years of nursing in varied areas, I can honestly say I love being a nurse.
